Fred and Alice: 10th anniversary tour of Sheehy’s quirky love story
‘Fred and Alice’, a sellout show by John Sheehy with over 160 performances to date, is coming to the Civic on July 7 and 8, reports Steven Reid.
The play, subtitled ‘Love in the time of OCD’ is “a quirky love story about two mischievous characters who meet in a home”.
From their days in care, to independent living, Fred and Alice negotiate the perils and pitfalls of life and love. Together they create a fantastical world which spills over into a madcap reality when they decide to move in together.
The play began a decade ago with a sellout three-week run in Bewley’s Cafe Theatre, and has since ventured around the country to glowing reviews and enthusiastic reactions from audiences.
A winner of numerous accolades such as the Best Professional Production Award in 2015, a Medalist honour at the 2016 PPI National Radio Awards, and even being invited on an eight week tour by the Arts Council of Ireland.
The show will continue its remarkable run with over 20 shows planned for its 10th Anniversary Tour.
Audiences and critics alike called the show “super”, “fantastic”, “charming”, “delightful” and much more.
