Friends want to bring David back to Rathcoole

By Brendan Grehan

DAVID CONWAY from Rathcoole fell seven storeys on a construction site in Brisbane last July and sustained life-changing injuries. He has lost both his legs and now his friends want to bring him home for a pint.

When his family in his hometown of Rathcoole received the call informing them of what happened, they rushed across to the other side of the world to be by his side.

Now, nine months and 37 major operations later, he is on the road to recovery.

He was in a coma for some time and operations were conducted to amputate his legs, and he received numerous, repeated blood transfusions.

An online fundraising page to support David, his wife Viv and daughter Keisha has raised over $50,000.

He got out of hospital on St Patrick’s Day.

The money raised is now going towards renovating the house to make it more accessible for David to live in, including ground floor areas to sleep and bathe.

Now his family want to arrange a trip home for him so he can have a pint.

A petition has started to bring David home you can sign it here.
