From library to retail unit . . .
By Aideen O'Flaherty
PLANS for the former site of Castletymon Library to house a retail unit with part off-licence use have been granted permission by South Dublin County Council.
Janel Stores Ltd, with a registered address at the Centra shop in Springfield, lodged the planning application for the unit at Castletymon Shopping Centre last December.

They also sought permission for the demolition of the existing projecting entrance porch and alterations to the front elevation to give shopfront glazing and signage.
The local authority granted permission for the development earlier this month, with a number of conditions, including the submission of revised layout plans showing a seating area in the unit, and that action should be taken to minimise air-blown dust during building works.
The original Castletymon Library closed in December 2017 when South Dublin County Council decided that they would not seek to renew the lease on the building as they claimed it was “unsuitable for occupation”.
A new library for the area is currently being developed on Castletymon Road, adjacent to the junction with Tymon North Gardens.
