Fundraising for Pieta House

By William O'Connor

To celebrate World Mental Health Day on Thursday, October 10, the staff and students of Coláiste Bríde joined together to fundraise for Pieta House.

Principal, Marie-Thérèse Kilmartin, welcomed the suggestion from the Guidance Team to hold a fundraising event for Pieta House, in recognition of this support service that helps so many in our community.

Coláiste Bríde has a strong track record in supporting local community initiatives and the students love being able to play an active role in the community.

The school’s theme for the day was Crazy Hair and many fabulous and colourful styles were evident around the school.

The school community, of over 1,000 assembled on the basketball courts to form the letters PIETA with the student’s choice playlist sounding in the background adding to the fun atmosphere.

Ben Ryan of benryanphotography.ie, was ably assisted by his daughters, also students in Coláiste Bríde.

With his high-tech photographic drone he captured amazing aerial photos of the celebration.

The day ended with everyone enjoying a short well-being walk and funds raised for Pieta House.
