By Stephen Leonard
GAELSCOIL Chluain Dolcáin defied all expectations to reach this years Corn Dublin Trophies final in Croke Park on Tuesday.
The Clondalkin side have been superb this term but despite a strong show, they fell at the final hurdle to Booterstown BNS 3-5 to 6-12.
Gaelscoil were six points down at half time – Josh Mac Domhnall was among the scorers for the Clondalkin side as was captain Aaron O Duill who fired over two from midfield.
However Booterstown, had Alex English, a son of former Tipperary hurling star Nicky, in their side and he tormented Gaelscoil throughout.
In the second half, Cillian MacDomhnall and Cathal MacGiolla Domhnaigh hammered home goals to keep their side in with a chance.
The standard of hurling was very high but it was Booterstown who pulled away in the second half with a string of scores.
Fiontan Baoill gave an exhibition of side line cuts while Liam MacReamoinn, Orla Ith Liceoghan and Tomas O Cleirigh put in big displays for the team.
The last time Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin was in Croke Park was 2013 while they were named the Cumann na mBunscol School of the Year in 2014/15.
