Gaelscoil na Camóige too strong in decider
A HAT-TRICK of goals and points from Sadhbh ní Chatháin proved the difference as Gaelscoil na Camóige beat Loreto Stephens Green 8-8 to 3-7 to lift the Sciath Tadgh Ó Cionn.
The Clondalkin side were off the mark early with forward Kendra ní Threasaigh slotting over the bar within seconds.
Gaelscoil na Camóige celebrate winning the Sciath Tadgh O Cionn
Loreto did most of their scoring in the first half, but it still was not enough to see them keep pace with the prolific Gaelscoil na Camóige attackers.
Indeed, they were 3-5 to 1-5 ahead by the interval thanks in no small measure to the powerhouse Sadhbh ní Chatháin.
Aisling Nic Reachtain and Lauren Nic giolla Phadraig were stalwarts in the backline and linked up well with Captain Emma ní Raghallaigh’s on several occasions to smother Loreto attacks.
Midfielder Muireann Nic an Bháird capped off a good performance in Croker when she charged through numerous players and guided the ball into the Loreto net to ensure the Sciath Tadgh Ó Cionn was coming back to Clondalkin.
