Gaisce award for teen who helps Ukraine community
A JOBSTOWN teenager who learned Ukrainian to help newly arrived refugees and set up chess and English language clubs in St Thomas’s Church recently received a bronze Gaisce award.
Oleksandr Sikorsky, 17, lived in Ukraine until he moved to Tallaght with his family at age seven, and after the war broke out, he decided he wanted to volunteer and help those who were displaced.
