Gardai appeal for witnesses to fatal stabbing

GARDAI investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Crumlin, have made an appeal for anyone who was in the Rutland Grove/Clogher Road area between 8pm and 8.15pm yesterday.

A man in his 30s was arrested last night after a stabbing incident in a house on Rutland Grove, which led to the death of a man in his 60s.

The victim was removed from the scene by ambulance to St James's Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardai are also trying to trace the movements of a red Toyota Yaris with a 04-WW registration, which was driven from the scene.

Speaking at Sundrive Road Station Superintendent Michael Cryan said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the Rutland Grove/Clogher Road area between 8pm and 8.15pm on Sunday, August 19 to come forward.

“We are also trying to trace the movements of a Red Toyota Yaris, described as 4-door hatchback with L plates and partial registration 04-WW, that was driven from the scene at Rutland Grove at about 8pm before it was recovered at approximately 8.20pm at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.

“We would also appeal to anyone with dashcam footage from the Rutland Grove or Connolly Hospital areas in and around the specified times to make it available to investigators.”

Gardai continue to question a man in his 30s arrested in connection with the incident at Crumlin Garda Station.

A post mortem will be carried out on the deceased man by the State Pathologist later this morning.
