Gardai seize €100k in drugs on building rooftop

GARDAI uncovered a rooftop drugs operation last week, seizing cannabis and heroin with a street value of up to €100,000.

A Ronanstown policing unit, who had been monitoring the area, discovered a variety of substances hidden underneath fungicide panels on a building rooftop in Clondalkin.

The haul included cannabis and heroin, along with two taser guns and drug paraphernalia.

A Lucan Garda Station spokesperson said no arrests have been made as of yet, but the drugs have been sent to forensics for analysis, and the investigation is ongoing.

Independent Councillor Francis Timmons hailed the bust, which he believes will put a major dent in a local drug dealing operation.

He said a “significant amount” of residents had contacted him in relation to open drug dealing and intimidation.

“Following my representations to Ronanstown Gardai, I am delighted the garda response has been so positive,” said Cllr Timmons.

“I have no doubt that this seizure will have a severe impact on the activities of those involved in drug dealing in the area.

“I am sure this will send out a clear message that drug dealing around local shops and services is not acceptable and that people will not be intimidated or prevented from living their lives.

“Children and older people should not have to witness what has been happening. I want to thank Ronanstown Garda Station who have been keeping our community safer.”
