Grange girls bring home All-Ireland Inter-Club title
A 2.5 to 0.5 win over Limerick completed Grange Golf Club’s march to the 2017 Girls All-Ireland Inter-Club title on Sunday.
The closing phase of the competition saw eventual winners Grange in the mix with Royal County Down Ladies, Limerick and Co. Sligo.
Their semi-final against RCDL proved a thriller with the two teams deadlocked at one point apiece after the first two matches.
Lavinia Bowe secured the first point for RCDL with a 2up win over Ellen Nolan, but Grange hit back when Rachel Lynch saw off Katie Poots 5&3.
The last match between Ciara Corcoran and Julia Hill appeared to be heading the way of the Grange as the former was 4up through 12.
However, Hill produced an impressive recovery to take the match all the way to 18 only to eventually lose 1up.
This set Grange up for a clash with a Limerick outfit that had proven too strong for Sligo in the second semi-final.
Both teams remained unchanged from the morning matches and, while Grange were the underdogs in terms of handicaps, they made a very strong start going up early in two of their matches.
Ellen Nolan, 3up after six managed to maintain her lead throughout the following few holes and emerged a 6&5 winner over Emily Walsh.
Shortly after, Rachel Lynch secured the coveted prize for her club with a 2&1 win over Emma Guinane.
