A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER celebrated her 99th birthday on Thursday, March 29, in the Kilnamanagh Community Day Centre.
Margaret Bowen, who goes by the name Peggy, is from Castle Park in Tallaght and has one child, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Peggy grew up in the inner city, and still has clear memories of historical events that she lived through, including the German bombing of North Strand in 1941 during World War Two.
The nonagenarian has a laidback approach to life, and despite suffering a fall on St Patrick’s Day she is looking forward to going out walking again during the summer.
Peggy’s son Graham told The Echo: “Turning 99-years-old, it’s just a number to her.
“She’s very laidback, we usually go down to The Penny Black on the weekend and go for a walk.”
Graham added: “She just gets on with every single day, she doesn’t moan and she just takes everything as it is.”
Peggy also has a fondness for animals, and she regularly goes to Crooksling in Brittas to practice yoga and to take in the picturesque surroundings.
