CARLY Hayes’s busy season in BMX racing continues with domestic and overseas competition outings over the next month.

The seven-year-old Tallaght girl recently returned home from the European Championships in Verona, Italy where she finished fourth, just fractionally off third spot.

There she was pitted against competitors representing 12 European nations. Her tremendous performance now means she can carry an E4 plate, signifying she is the fourth fastest in Europe.

Since her return, Hayes has continued to race in the Irish BMX National Series and still holds the lead in the 7-10 year female class.

The next rounds of this championship will take place at Lucan BMX Track on August 20/21 in what is one of the two double headers on the BMX Championship calender this year.

The Final rounds of the series will be held at Ratoath BMX track on September 17/18 when she will hope to be crowned national champion.

Yet prior to that, Hayes will be heading to Telford, UK in two weeks to compete in the final rounds of the British BMX series where she aims to make the “A” final.

She does intend to contest a full British BMX National Championship season in 2017 and bring home the title.
