Here’s five great things to do locally this weekend

Round Tower GAA Club in Clondalkin will be holding a family fun day this weekend. Providing that the rain holds out, the event on Monastery Road will provide the perfect day out on Saturday (between 2 and 6pm) for families.
Lucan Festival has arrived. The community festival promises live music, races and treasure hunts as well as a spectacular fireworks display.
Spectators hoping to catch the fireworks can gather at Weir View Road before 8pm tonight.
There will also be a tour of the Lucan House grounds. Although this sprawling Palladian house is currently being occupied by the Italian ambassador to Ireland, anyone can get a view of the inside next month as part of Lucan Festival.
Mr Giovanni Adorni Braccesi Chiassi will be opening his doors on Saturday, September 9th. To view the stunning 18th-century house and grounds, tickets will cost €5 for adults, with children under 12 able to go free. The tours will last from 1.30pm -5.00pm, with the last entry at 4.15pm.
As part of the festival, the Lucan garda station are hosting an open day
Calling all dog lovers: This year the DSPCA’s Great Irish Dog Walk will be held on Saturday.
The doggie-themed festival in the grounds of the DSPCA Campus is surrounded by spectacular views over Dublin Bay and the countryside.
According to the DSPCA: “This event is open to all dog owners or simply people who love animals and wish to enjoy a fun day out, while supporting the lifesaving work of the DSPCA.”
The cost of registration is €12 per adult, kids and dogs go free. The meeting point is the DSPCA Campus, Mount Venus Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
5km Family Walk in Tymon
This family walk through Tymon Park on Sunday will fundraise for the St. Joseph’s Home for Deaf Adults.
The Tallaght Deaf Club (TDC) are organising the 5km walk and promise that a surprise guest will attend and start the walk at 2pm.
This event is wheelchair accessible and dogs are welcomed to join, provided that they are left on leads. There will be flags in the park to show where to go and committees from the TDC will be around to help
Attendees are asked to meet at the entrance gate at the Castletymon entrance at 1:30pm. The price for a single person is €5. Couples pay €8, while families pay €10.

Firhouse Community Fair
The Firhouse Community Fair will take place this Sunday, September 10th. All in the community are invited to attend.
Running from 1pm to 6pm in the green space opposite Mount Carmel Church, the fair will boast a range of stalls and activities, including organic dried food, jewellery, bric-a-brac, woodturning, flower arranging, face painting, storytelling and more.
