Heritage Day to feature ‘look-back’

A WIDE range of music and activities is scheduled for Ballyfermot Heritage Day on Saturday, August 24, at Ballyfermot Library.

The family-friendly event is held annually during National Heritage Week, and this is the 21st time that the Ballyfermot Heritage Group is facilitating this day of celebration and entertainment.

People often tune in from across the world, including the US, Australia and even Taiwan, to check up on the festivities taking place back home.

This year’s event will feature an old photos exhibition of Ballyfermot ‘Step Back in Time’, along with performances from the artists and groups from ‘The Best of Ballyfermot Talent’ all day from 11am to 4pm.

There will also be an ukelele sing-a-long, a tribute to Christy Hennessy by Pat Craig, the music of Robert Francis, ballads and craic by Sean Coleman, Ballyfermot’s super star from Ireland’s Got Talent Matt Dodd, and a sing a-long with local legend Stephen Barrett.

Declan Callis from Joe Duffy’s Funny Fridays will also be there to provide a laugh, and the talented Ballyfermot Sewing Group will put on a display of their creations.

Extra special guests are expected to drop by during the day, and light refreshments and tea/coffee will be available for guests attending.

Visitors can also enter a free raffle to win a prize. Ballyfermot Heritage Day takes place from 11am to 4.30pm in Ballyfermot Library, on Saturday, August 24.
