Heroes of Kindness to be honoured

THE LORD MAYOR of Dublin, Daithí de Róiste, invited schools across Dublin city to take part in the Kindness Heroes initiative.

The initiative is one that aims to promote and nurture a culture of compassion and goodwill in Dublin. Dublin is a city that is known for its vibrant community spirit; through this initiative it begins a mission to spread kindness throughout neighbourhoods.

The Kindness Heroes initiative invited children to showcase acts of kindness during the week of April 15 to April 19, this year.

Lord Mayor Daithí de Róiste said, “An act of kindness not only brightens someone’s day, it also uplifts the spirits of the person doing the act of kindness.

“In a world that can sometimes feel unkind, small gestures often serve as beacons of hope, helping promote emotional well-being and build stronger bonds within our community.

“Kindness is action-orientated; you can’t be kind sitting on your couch watching television.

“It’s about doing something for somebody else without any expectation of anything in return.”

Participating schools throughout Dublin city were encouraged to nominate students who exemplify the spirit of kindness through their actions.

These Kindness Heroes will be recognised and honoured during a special ceremony at the Mansion House next month.

“We want our young citizens to understand how a small effort of kindness can make an impact on others;” added The Lord Mayor.

“They not only make a positive difference in someone else’s life but also contribute to building a caring community.”

Schools are encouraged to nominate one of their Kindness Superheroes to be invited into the Mansion House in May for presentation of a Lord Mayor Scroll.
