‘His loss, his absence, he’s so much missed’ says mother

A DECADE has passed since the remains of Tallaght dad Kenneth Fetherston were discovered in the Dublin Mountains, with Crimestoppers and his parents this week re-issuing an appeal for information on the murder.
Kenneth’s skeletal remains were discovered on the remote Military Road in the Dublin Mountains on January 31, 2010 – nearly four months after the 26-year-old disappeared from his Tallaght home.

During an inquest into Kenneth’s death in 2012, deputy state pathologist Dr Michael Curtis said that Kenneth was stabbed multiple times with injuries evident in the skull and neck.
Since the discovery of Kenneth’s remains, a number of people have been arrested and questioned over the death of the young father-of-one.
However, nobody has yet been charged with his murder.
Crimestoppers has this week appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information they have – with the case also featuring on RTÉ’s Crimecall on Tuesday.
On Crimecall, Kenneth’s parents renewed their appeal for information on the murder of their son, who worked alongside his dad Brian as a bus driver in the family business.
In the emotional appeal, Kenneth’s mother Grainne said: “The impact on our family [is that] we’re broken.
“His loss, his absence, he’s so much missed.”
His dad Brian said: “The fact that it has gone on now ten years is heartbreaking.
“We’re only halfway through this nightmare at the moment.

“Ken was found. The second part now is getting justice for him.”
Launching its new appeal this week, Crimestoppers outlines how Kenneth left his Tallaght apartment on Tuesday, September 22, at 8.30am in a red Honda Civic.
He travelled to Luke Lawlor’s filling station on the Tallaght Bypass at Balrothery (now Circle K) and a premises at Landy’s Industrial Estate, Knocklyon, where he was last seen at 9.30am.
Kenneth’s red Honda Civic, registration 93D44862, was discovered four days later in a lay-by on the N11, between Arklow and Gorey.
Gardai, according to Crimestoppers, believe the car was abandoned at this location between 11pm on Tuesday, September 22, and 10am on Wednesday, September 23.
Kenneth’s remains were discovered on Sunday, January 31, by two members of the public walking in the Dublin mountains.
Speaking this week, Tallaght District Superintendent, Ian Lackey said: “On the tenth anniversary of Kenneth’s murder, we are appealing for anyone who has even the smallest piece of information to come forward.
“Although time has passed, any information that may seem insignificant to you may help with this investigation.
“If a member of the public prefers to give information without identifying themselves, they can call Crimestoppers.”
