HSE seeks building’s change of use to National Ambulance facility

THE HSE has applied to South Dublin County Council for the refurbishment and extension of an existing three-storey building at the Glen Abbey Complex on the Belgard Road.

The Health Service Executive proposes the change of use of the existing building and site from a vacant addiction service facility to a National Ambulance facility.

Plans include the demolition of a staircore and boiler room and the removal of an external staircore, entrance ramp and steps to the north of the building, and the provision of lateral and vertical extensions at ground.

The first- and second-floor levels will principally comprise a single-storey, two-bay ambulance garage, increasing the gross

floor area of the building from 943 sq m to

1,420 sq m, the rationalisation of floor space in the existing building, and the provision of an external canopy to shelter 14 emergency vehicles.

The plans provide for the provision of a power-washing station towards the south-western corner of the site, ancillary staff car-parking, cycle parking, revised elevational treatments, boundary treatments, and hard and soft landscaping.
