AIDAN Harris Igiehon, one of the hottest properties in US High School basketball, has announced he will join the University of Louisville next year.

The Clondalkin man, who moved to Lawrence Woodmere Academy from Dublin Lions, was the target of more than 30 top colleges from around the US, and finally announced his decision.

His former coach at Lions, Rob White, believes he has made the right choice saying “It was the definitely the best decision for him.

“They [Louisville] are one of the top colleges in the US, one of the most prestigious.

“They’ve got a great new coach, Chris Mack who they signed from Xavier University and so it’s exciting for Aidan.

“He’ll be the first player, who played in Ireland and grew up in Ireland, to be playing for such a big college,” he told The Echo.

Indeed, Igiehon will become the first Irish player to compete in the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) and will get the chance to play in the famous KFC Yum Center which has a capacity of more than 22,000.

The 6’10 power forward, who will be eligible for the NBA draft in 2020, is excited about his move next year saying: “When I first came to the United States, I didn’t imagine myself being here.

“This is a decision that will potentially change my life and my family’s life forever. Honestly speaking, this is the hardest decision I have ever made,” he admitted.
