‘I’m a bit baffled’ how junction deemed to be in working order

FLOODING persists at the Drimnagh Luas stop despite Dublin City Council deeming the junction to be in working order, according to a local councillor.

Cllr Daithí Doolan (SF) previously raised the issue of flooding that takes place at the Drimnagh Luas stop with the city council.

Speaking at the South Central area meeting, Cllr Doolan said the response he got back from the city council was that ‘the gulleys have been cleaned, that mains on Davitt Road were checked and in working order.”

“But unfortunately as somebody who uses that road on a daily basis on a bike, I know that every time it rains, that ponds quite badly and not only is it ponding but it is actually at the pedestrian crossing between Drimnagh Luas stop and Bosco’s youth centre,” said Cllr Doolan.

“It continues to flood there, sometimes nearly across the road. So I’m a bit baffled how it is deemed to be in working order. Every time it rains it is not in working order. I’m wondering if some more intensive investigative work needs to be done ? The response I got was that it appears to be in working order but it doesn’t appear to be working to me, and anybody that has to use it when it rains.”

The flooding was echoed by Cllr Michael Pidgeon (GP) who also noticed the problem at the Drimnagh Luas stop.

At the meeting, Neil O’Donoghue, senior engineer Dublin City Council said he would pass on Cllr Doolan’s query to the relevant team in the city council.
