THE Ciarán Carr Foundation will be turning Corkagh Park all the colours of the rainbow on Sunday, September 30.

This Family Colour Run will welcome participants of all ages from the local community to fundraise for a cause that is very close to the hearts of the Foundation. ‘In Defibs We Trust’ will form part of the European Week of Sport in partnership with South Dublin County Council.

Since being established in 2013, the Foundation has placed more than 50 defibrillators throughout the local Clondalkin community.

Potentially life-saving devices, defibrillators have been placed in schools, sports clubs, local landmarks with one being fully accessible 24 hours a day on Main Street, Clondalkin.

To ensure that all defibrillators can be maintained and replaced for many years to come, the Colour Run 2018 will fundraise to create a trust fund with Tower Credit Union.

Gemma Carr from the Ciarán Carr Foundation said: “When we began work with the Foundation in memory of Ciarán, our main goal was to place defibrillators in as many locations as possible and train people to save a life. As this work continues, we want to ensure that the devices are maintained to the highest standard in case they are called upon.

“In recent years there have been a number of occasions where the defibrillators have been called into action. Having such devices to hand can not only provide reassurance, but drastically increase the chances of survival should someone require treatment. The Colour Run will be a day for everyone to have great fun, just don’t turn up wearing your Sunday best.”
