Indian Orthodox Church seeking retention for a change of use at Malankara House

THE ST Thomas Indian Orthodox Church is seeking retention permission for the change of use of a dwelling called Malankara House on Old Lucan Road in Palmerstown into a presbytery.

Permission is also being sought for the construction of a 222 sq m church with associated services, car-parking, landscaping, a flagpole, and a notice board.

The proposal includes the use of the existing entrance on Old Lucan Road as it currently exists, and the erection of a new gate, all at Malankara House.

A decision on the application is due from South Dublin County Council by September 19.

According to the St Thomas Indian Orthodox Church’s Irish website, Malankara House is the residence of the vicar.

The dwelling also includes a guest room to accommodate parish prelates or guest bishops when they visit the parish.
