
Information sought on plans for 23 houses and six apartments on village Main Street
ADDITIONAL information is being sought for plans to build 23 houses and six apartments at a site located at Drumlonagher, Main Street in Newcastle.
Applicants Pavement Homes Ltd submitted an application for planning permission in January, which alongside the plans to build a number of housing structures also includes plans for a two-storey building with a retail unit at ground floor level, the construction of a two-storey corner building with two retail units to accommodate a cafe and a convenience store and the construction of a market square.
Plans also include the construction of a two metre high boundary wall to the east and west boundaries, timber panel fences between the dwellings, the construction of a foul sewer network to serve the proposed development to connect into the existing foul sewer network, and ancillary site works.
South Dublin County Council has requested additional information on the plans, including information in relation to the proposed buildings along the Main Street frontage having regard to the site’s location within an Architectural Conservation Area and the Local Area Plan for the location.
Revised drawings are also requested from the applicant, which will address the proposed structure’s compliance with guidelines including the Sustainable Urban Housing: Design Standards for New Apartments – Guidelines for Planning Authorities (2015) and the Quality Housing for Sustainable Communities Best Practice Guidelines (DOEHLG 2007).
The council has also requested that the applicant submit revised proposals relating to the street layout within the proposed development, the landscaping of the scheme and the site’s location within the zone of archaeological potential in Newcastle Village.
South Dublin County Council requested the additional information on March 10, the applicant must submit the additional information within six months of the council’s decision date.
If the additional information is not received within the six month period then the application will be considered withdrawn.
