Investigations underway after robbery at shop in Citywest estate

Investigations are underway after a robbery took place at a local Spar store in the Belfry estate in Citywest on Saturday afternoon.

According to reports a man, who was in possession of what has been described as a bladed instrument, entered the store shortly after 3pm and left a short time later with a number of items.

Speaking to Echo.ie a Garda spokesperson said: “The man left the shop with items of property and fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported.

“The suspect is described as being male, 5’ 10” in height, of slim build with light brown hair and ginger coloured stubble beard.  

“He spoke with a Dublin accent and was wearing a black jacket and grey tracksuit bottoms.”

Since the store opened last year it has been targeted a number of times by thieves, including in January when two masked men threatened staff with a knife before fleeing on foot with a sum of cash.
