Ireland’s spiciest curry powder manufactured in Clondalkin officially launched
By Maurice Garvey
IRELAND’S spiciest curry powder – manufactured in Clondalkin – is so hot that it comes with gloves and requires customers to sign terms and conditions before purchasing.
Created by Clondalkin resident Shakeel Jeeroburkan, founder of the award winning fresh spice company Spice Devils – the Oh Fahl powder is so spicy that it is only available to the general public online.
The blend contains 15 per cent Carolina Reaper – officially the world’s hottest chilli pepper, according to the Guinness Book of Records.
Jeeroburkan, a fourth generation biryani maker from Mauritius, launched Oh Fahl at the Bank of Ireland Clondalkin Enterprise Town on September 30 at Moyle Park College.
“We have been providing our customers with a range of delicious freshly-milled mild spice blends, but for some time now, a significant number of our customers have been requesting something that is hot but tasty, and they meant very hot,” said Jeeroburkan.
“The customer is at the centre of our operation despite the super spicy curry market being very niche”.
Oh Fahl is the Irish take on the British Phaal, the world’s hottest curry, and is not destined for the faint hearted.
According to Shakeel, it took time to come up with the final blend as “Carolina Reaper is quite a difficult pepper to work with” and can normally kill any taste “let alone your taste buds.”

“We have managed to bring in a high level of heat without destroying the taste of the product itself. The curry is hot and is mouth-watering. It’s just beautiful,” said Jeeroburkan.
Based in Ace Enterprise Park in Bawnogue, Spice Devils have been creating a range of Mauritian-inspired spice blends since 2013, winning several food industry awards along the way.
His regular mild spice mixes, are gluten free, 100 per cent natural, and free from salt, sugar, MSG and other additives.
The spices are also child-friendly as they all come with a separate sachet of chilli for hot food lovers.
Spice Devils regular range of spices are available in several SuperValu’s in Dublin.
Oh Fahl is available for purchase online, after accepting the terms and conditions at https://spicedevils.myshopify.com/ from October 1.
