January 2018 Team of the Month – Templeogue Men’s Basketball Team
IT WAS a tremendous start to 2018 for Templeogue Men’s Basketball team as they landed the club’s second National Senior Cup in three seasons.
Mark Keenan’s men, who, last year, captured their first ever Super League title and were duly crowned ‘The Echo Team of the 2017’, completed their march to this year’s National Cup with a 68-62 triumph over a UCD Marian outfit that had twice beaten them in the league this season.

Templeogue made the better start, taking a 16-9 lead by the close of the first quarter during which Neil Randolph and Luke Thompson nailed important three-pointers.
Yet UCD fought their way back to within two by the halftime recess and managed to tie the game four minutes into the third only to be immediately hit with a Mike Bonaparte three-pointer.
And the same player planted three of four late free-throws to ensure it was the Reds who are celebrating.
It completed a stunning week for Templeogue basketball with the club’s Under 18 Men’s team landing their respective National Cup just hours beforehand while Templeogue College had previously captured the All-Ireland Schools Under 19 A title.
