Templeogue’s Nadia Power has been declared ‘The Echo Sports Star of the Month for January’ following a string of tremendous international 800m indoor races across Europe over recent weeks

And just 18 days later, she managed to improve on that time when she crossed the line in  2:00.98 at the World Indoor Tour in Torún, Poland.

It also ensured she claimed third spot in the race, behind Ethiopia’s Habitam Alemu and Polish runner Jóźwik.

The Irish 800m Indoor record has since been won back by DSD’s Síofra Cléirigh Büttner who served up a time of 2.00.58 in Arkansas.

Both she and Power and will represent Ireland over this distance at the European Indoor Championship also taking place in Torún from March 5-7.

Joining them will be Georgie Hartigan, also of DSD, after she recorded a PB of 2.01.48 on her way to victory at the Elite Micro Meet last weekend.
