Joshua secures HaringeyBox Cup

It was all smiles for Joshua Olaniyan at the weekend after he secured the HaringeyBox Cup, Biggest Box Cup in Europe in the Alexandra Palace in London.

The 75kg Elite champion overcame the challenge of two English boxers and opposition from Iceland in the final a unanimous win to claim the prize.

“It’s unreal for Josh. He has to fly away to get Box Cup competition as there are no elites here in Ireland,” said Jobstown Boxing Club coach Amanda Spencer.

“It’s great for the club and Josh. He is working hard and now he is preparing for the U22s in July to secure selection for the European,” she added.

Meanwhile, Josh’s sister won the Cadet National Irish title on Saturday at g2 92+ on a walk over nobody in her weight.

This means everyone in Josh’s family, his three brothers David and Adam along with Josh are Irish champions and their little sister Amaze Olanyian.

This is the first family in the Jobstown club and Tallaght area to have all siblings Irish champions.
