June Team of the Month: Lucan United FC senior men’s team

LUCAN United Football Club senior mens’ team secured the Metropolitan Cup for the first time in their club’s history last month.

The Lucan side came out tops in the final when they overcame the challenge of Bluebell United at the UCD Bowl.

It was a great achievement for the team, who are playing in the top-flight of the Leinster Senior League for the first season.

In the final Lucan came from a goal down with former Chelsea youth player Conor Clifford scoring the winner for his side.

The winning goal arrived from Gary Seery in the second half as Lucan grew in confidence against a highly talented Bluebell United outfit.

The team also had a productive run in the league, finishing in mid-table and they will be aiming to build on that next season.

The win marked John Doyle’s last match in the charge of the Metropolitan champions.
