June Team of the Month – Shamrock Rovers Amputee Team

THE month of June proved a hugely successful one for Shamrock Rovers Amputee Soccer team.

Currently top of the IAFA National League, the Tallaght side raised the Sean McCaffrey Foundation Cup in Monaghan before they travelled to Munich to line out at FuBballiade 2019 in which they finished runners-up to Bohemians.

In Germany, Rovers also faced off against FC Hoffenheim and Newcastle United over six matches, claiming a 2-1 win over the home side in their opener before beating their Tyneside opponents on all three counts.

A further draw and a narrow loss to Hoffenheim capped off two fine days of tournament football for the Hoops.

This fine run of games saw Rovers progress to the final where they came up against Bohemians who won out 2-0.

“We tested ourselves against two great sides from around Europe and the players responded brilliantly,” said Rovers Head Coach Stuart McSweeney.
