Kal’s Journey fund now stands at almost €100,000

THE CAMPAIGN to send a little boy to the USA for life-changing surgery, is closer to realisation after the latest fundraising event.

His parents Ashley Byrne and Derek Jennings, from Old Tower, are trying to raise €100,000 to send their boy to the States for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR).
Kal’s uncle Dean Carpenter, owner of D-Top Fitness in Neilstown, raised another €6,200 for the cause over the weekend, and Kal’s Journey fundraiser now stands at €96,470.
Kal’s parents said: “From day one of this fundraising journey, Dean has been our leader, organiser, mentor and so much more. We wouldn’t be at the other side of the fundraising if it wasn’t for him.
“Kal is so lucky to have an uncle like you by his side not only for the help of fundraising but for life goals too.”
Dean thanked everyone who sponsored and supported his events for Kal.
Since February, numerous different fundraisers have been held by local business, groups and individuals.
Kal’s parents hope the €100,000 target will go towards SDR surgery, physiotherapy sessions and further therapies that Kal will require in his recovery and treatment.
