ST AIDAN’S SNS, Brookfield coughed up a five-point halftime lead as they lost out 2-8 to 6-8 against a clinical St Cronan’s, Brackenstown in the Sciath Mhic Chaoilte decider in Croke Park yesterday.

The Tallaght side was flying in the opening half with Jayden Marshall and Dylan Warner both finding the back of the net while Joseph Olshutto struck over the bar three times and Dean Dwyer also weighed in with a point.

Yet there was always a sense that they could have chalked up even more by the break, and a large deficit was exactly what Aidan’s needed as Cronan’s proved a lot more clinical after the break.

Indeed they fired home two swift goals that laid the platform for their revival despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Adam McNally who was very impressive with his kickouts.

Aidan’s kept fighting to the end and even had three efforts cleared off the goal line with Johnny Casey, Zuriel Chucks and Marshall all going close.

ST KEVIN’S BNS, Kilnamanagh stormed to the Corn an Cheid following a 3-20 to 0-2 triumph over a St Damian’s NS who battled all the way to the end.

An early goal by top-scorer Kian Dowling set the tone for the game as Kevin’s raced into a commanding 2-11 to 0-1 advantage by the halftime recess.

Dowling emerged from the tie with a tally of 1-4 to his name while impressive centre half back Callum Kenna also got on the scoresheet when his long free found the back of the net.

Ciaran Kenna struck three times over the bar while captain Callum Byrne O’Reilly accounted for the Tallaght side’s third goal.

In what was a superb team effort overall, Jack Green at wing forward and midfielder Daniel O’Neill also played their part in a most emphatic victory.

St Damien’s, to their credit, kept battling away with Daire McCarthy and Conor Carey shooting over while Cian Kearney pulled off some fine stops in goal and Finn O’Sullivan put in a good shift in midfield.

A BLITZ of scores after the break from Gaelscoil Eiscir Riada sent them cruising past Gaelscoil Ros Eo to a 5-10 to 1-9 win in the Corn Chlanna Gael final, marking the fourth year in succession the school has lifted silverware.

It was not all smooth sailing for the Lucan outfit as Daragh Mac Giolla Dhuibh pelted over a brace of frees early on to edge the Rush-based in front.

Captain Daniel Táth led Esker back into the game, registering 0-5 overall from midfield while Michael Ó Briain also took control in the middle of the park and added a goal to boot.

Mac Giolla Dhuibh proved a real thorn in the side of the Eiscir Riada backline with his free-taking ability, but Cian McCormack stood firm at centre-back, proving a worthy foe for the Ros Eo midfielder.

After the interval, Eiscir Riada came flying out of the blocks and struck four goals in succession with Ó Briain finding the net on two more occasions to take his tally to 3-2 from play.

The full-forward pairing of Stephen Prís and Cian Ó Gadhra settled well as the game progressed and they hit a goal each before the final whistle.
