
Latest figures show staggering number of visits people make to the Square every year
A staggering 22 million visitors passed through the doors of Square shopping centre in 2016 according to the latest figures released.
That’s an average of around 417,000 visits per week counted coming through the doors of one the country’s most well-known shopping centres, which is currently up for sale.
In the latest report, it is suggested that the Square will be sold for an expected asking price in excess of €233m.
Opened in 1990, the centre now has 130 retail units and a 13 screen cinema, while its anchor tenants include Dunnes Stores, Tesco and Debenhams.
Included in the sale are 118 of these units as well as the cinema, and more than 2,400 car parking spaces.
The current rental income per year is just short of €14m (€13.98m), which will provide the new owners with a return of 5.75 per cent.
