
Leroy and Jack return to the podium in Tallinn
TALLINN hosted the latest edition of Word Taekwondo ranking events.
The Estonian capital saw a return to the podium for South Dublin Taekwondo’s fighters Leroy Nsilu Dilandu and Jack Woolley who secured a third and first place respectively.
Leroy fighting at -74kg entered the division as seed one with a bye in the preliminaries followed by a brace of wins over Ukrainian & Danish opposition.
Nursing a knock Leroy withdrew from the semi-final with one eye on more substantial upcoming events.
Topping the -63kg podium Jack Woolley secured his first gold at the heavier weight.
Jack who normally fights at the lighter -58kg won his division after overcoming opposition from Ukraine, Israel, Moldova and Bulgaria.
‘The event was a tune up event for next weeks Paris Grand Prix for the two boys.
There are plenty of positives to take away and build on for upcoming majors’, said Coach Robert Taaffe.
Leroy who attends his first Grand Prix as an invited athlete is due to compete on Saturday with his team mate Woolley on Friday.
In Tallinn the duo were also joined by senior team mate Ryan Doyle who finished 5th in the -74kg division narrowly missing out on the semi final in a 2-1 defeat to his Danish counterpart after Doyle earlier beat German opposition.
