Lidl Fortunestown store levelled
By Mary Dennehy
LIDL on Fortunestown Lane has been levelled, to pave the way for a “new and improved” supermarket on site, reports Mary Dennehy.
Lidl was granted planning permission by South Dublin County Council in October of last year for the demolition of its existing store and the development of a larger building on its Fortunestown Lane site.

This development was under review for a number of days following the looting and partial bulldozing of the original store during Storm Emma.
However, following a review, Lidl Ireland announced that it would proceed with plans to develop a larger store on site.
The construction of the new store is now due to commence, with the improved supermarket expected to be open by late summer.
