Living Passion is unique and spiritual experience

THE COMMUNITY is invited to take part in a “truly unique and spiritual experience” across the parishes of Tallaght this Easter.
Organised by the Vine Mass, a group of parishioners from the parishes of St Mark’s, St Thomas’s, St Aengus and St Mary’s, the event is called the Living Passion – and will include a number of diverse, free events from today, Palm Sunday, March 25, to Good Friday, March 30.

During the course of the week, Living Passion witnesses or speakers will visit churches, events and local groups to talk about God in “a real and living way”.
Joe Geoghegan, a Fettercairn resident and member of the Vine Mass group, told The Echo: “There are a lot of people with faith within all of the parishes in Tallaght.
“The Living Passion hopes to give people the chance to be involved with their faith and their church again… with the Living Passion a celebration of faith.”
The event is being staged to celebrate the world meeting of families, which takes place in Ireland between August 22 and 26.
The celebration will include a number of ‘witnesses’ speaking about their faith and relationship with God at various church services and events in the run-up to Easter Sunday.
“In celebration of this the Tallaght-based vine group will be holding the living passion around the churches of Tallaght,” Joe said.
“This is not a play or re-enactment of Holy Week it is a group of witnesses much like Christ and the Apostles who will arrive in Tallaght on Palm Sunday and live in Tallaght until Good Friday.
“During this time the Living Passion witnesses will visit churches, events and local groups to talk about God in a real and living way.”
The witnesses will work with Father Brian Shortall, Kilnamanagh native and Head Capuchin friar in Dublin – and anybody else who would like to be part of the event and talk about their faith is welcome to get in touch.
The witnesses will travel from parish to parish, with local people invited to travel too or to attend only one or two events.
The witnesses will arrive in Tallaght at 5.30pm on Palm Sunday at the Tallaght Luas stop and over the course of the week will visit parishes including St Mark’s, St Mary’s, St Kevin’s, St Thomas’s, St Maelruain’s Church of Ireland, St Aengus and Glenasmole – alongside visiting Bohernabreena Cemetery.
