Local residents encouraged to avail of new CCTV schemes as well as text alert schemes
Residents from Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Citywest and the surrounding communities should check out new Government supports to protect local people from crime, according to Dublin South West TD and Independent Minister Katherine Zappone.
Support is being provided for the provision of community based CCTV schemes as well as text alert schemes.
The Minister is encouraging local groups to apply for part of the €1.1m being made available nationwide.
Minister Katherine Zappone added: “Everyone is entitled to be safe in their community, their neighbourhood and their home.
In order to achieve this goal we need active communities, where neighbours work together and check in on each other. Such work is deserving of Government support.
Under the new supports €1m is being made available for the provision of community CCTV schemes.
Each project can receive up to €40,000. Nationally a further €100,000 is also available in rebates for the cost of providing text alerts.
