Take a step in the right direction with these local walks and park runs

AS THE evenings get brighter and you’ve a spring in your step, why not take advantage of a number of community-led walks and park runs in your area – which provide a free and fun way to stay healthy, both in body and mind.

There are more than 20 weekly walks taking place across South Dublin County, all of which will run for the duration of RTE's healthy living programme, Operation Transformation.

Each week a number of walks take off across communities including Tallaght, Newcastle, Templeogue, Clondalkin, Lucan, Palmerstown, Quarryvale, Balgaddy and Saggart.

A series of weekly park runs are also taking place on Saturday mornings at 9.30am in Tymon Park (Limekiln entrance), Corkagh Park (St John’s entrance), Griffeen Valley Park (Esker entrance) and Waterstown Park (Stewart’s Hospital).

The initiative is being run by South Dublin County Sports Partnership in association with Get Ireland Active, South Dublin County Council and Sport Ireland.

The sports partnership has encouraged any other groups organising walks to get in touch, and they will help promote the events through social media.
