IT’s arrived. After months of waiting, the Longitude Festival is pitching tent in Marlay Park this weekend, and here’s what you need to know.

Now in its 6th year, more than 70 acts will take to the festival’s four stages – which, dominated by R&B acts this year, will see acts such as J.Cole, Solange, Travis Scott and Migos perform.

Take public transport

Gates open each day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at 1.30pm, with An Garda Siochana strongly recommending that ticketholders take public transport – or car-pool or take a coach.

Allow an extra two hours travel time to and from Marlay Park, which has limited parking available.

Gardai have stressed that Dublin Bus will only be operating its normal scheduled service and will not be running additional services for Longitude.

Visit www.dublinbus.ie and www.luas.ie for public transport time tables.

A traffic management plan will be in place in the area, with people encouraged to visit www.theaa.ie for up-to-date traffic reports.

Security

Allow plenty of time for increased security checks at venue. Garda have asked concert goers to note that only small bags, measuring no bigger than A4 in size, will be permitted – any bag bigger will not be allowed into the event. There is no cloakroom or storage facilities.

Crime prevention

Gardai have issued some crime prevention tips for the weekend, which include planning your journey – plan how you are going to get to the venue and return home.

Check the time of your last train, bus or tram and always use a licensed taxi.

The number one target for street thiefs is mobile phones, so be mindful when using your phone and conceal your wallet or purse.

Also, keep a separate amount of cash on your person in case your wallet or purse is stolen.

Fun in the sun

While the intense sunshine has disappeared in recent days, concert goers are advised to wear sunscreen, bring a hat and drink plenty of water. While its forecast to remain mostly overcast this weekend, temperatures are still set to reach the early twenties.

Enjoy the festival!
