Lucan United hit Arklow for Six

LUCAN United made it two wins from three in the LSL Senior 1A after they stormed to a 6-1 thrashing of Arklow Town on Sunday.

The homeside required only five minutes to open their account when Harmony Mercer found Tayem Dinamunenge with his delivery in from the right.

Lucan were still pegged back by their Wickow rivals on the half hour after they gave away a penalty that was converted by Jonathan Kelty.

Yet, Arklow were reduced to ten when Sean Crowly handled the ball in his own box, preventing a goal, that resulted in a straight red and a penalty for Lucan that Derek Lawlor tucked away.

And it was not long before they doubled their advantage when Dinamumenge attacked along the left wing, got to the edge of the box and let fly an effort that was deflected in.

The opening 10 minutes was all about the 10-man Arklow trying to get back into the game, but Lucan held firm and added a fourth when a cross from Marco Chindig on the left was met on the far side of the box by Gareth Mathews who directed it into the path of Mercer and he tucked it away.

With some 10 minutes left on the clock, Lawlor bagged his second and Lucan’s fifth when he got in on the end of another delivery from Chindig before he completed his hat-trick late on after an impressive solo run into the box.
