Major delays expected this weekend due to “essential” work on Old Bawn Road

SOUTH Dublin County Council is replacing the traffic signal controller at the N81/Old Bawn Road junction this weekend, which is expected to cause traffic delays in the area over the course of the next two days.
According to the council, the existing signals will be switched off tomorrow morning at 8am and will be turned back on around 6pm on Sunday for “essential” works.
Major traffic delays are expected so, motorists are advised to steer clear of the Old Bawn road area where possible.
The council said: “We will be replacing the traffic signal controller at N81 Old Bawn Rd as the current one is nearing the end of its useful life.
“This is a two day job and will be done over the weekend of Saturday, September 23, and Sunday, September 24th.
“The existing signals will be switched off at 08:00 on Saturday and back on at around 18:00 on Sunday.”
The council added: “Traffic management will be in place, including overnight on Saturday 23rd.
“There will be delays to traffic but the works are essential.”
