Man arrested in Kenneth Fetherston murder investigation released without charge

A MAN arrested in relation to the ongoing investigation into the murder of Tallaght man Kenneth Fetherston has been released without charge.

On Monday morning, March 18, gardai arrested a man in his forties on suspicion of murder.

He has since been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

According to gardai, an investigation into the murder of Kenneth Fetherston (26) has been ongoing at Tallaght Garda Station since his disappearance in September 2009 and the subsequent discovery of his remains at Military Road, Rathfarnham, in January 2010.

In 2020, An Garda Siochana’s Serious Crime Review Team, part of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, commenced a review and investigation into the circumstances of Kenneth’s murder. 

On Monday morning of this week, investigating gardai from the review team, supported by national and local Garda resources, searched a private residence in the midlands.

Gardai said that a man in his forties was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man was detained at a Garda station in the Eastern region under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

In a statement released this morning, Tuesday, March 19, gardai said that the man was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
