Man charged with sexually exploiting boy at local hotel

A MAN (51) who allegedly approached a boy (12) at Citywest Luas stop and asked him for directions to the hotel before bringing the boy to his hotel room and telling the boy he would pay him €50 if he could touch him has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court.
The man, was before Judge David McHugh in Blanchardstown District Court for service of his book of evidence.
Judge McHugh has put a stay on the naming on the man.
The court had heard it will be alleged that on October 20 last, a 12-year-old boy was approached at Citywest Luas stop by the man who asked him for directions to a nearby hotel.
The man allegedly offered to show the boy his hotel room and they went together to the room.
The man then allegedly offered €50 to the boy if he could touch him.
The boy left the room and contacted the gardai.
Later that night, the man allegedly spoke to three gardai and he told them that the boy had wanted to see the room because he heard someone famous had stayed there.
It will be alleged that the man told the gardai that he asked the boy if he was gay and the boy became annoyed.
He allegedly told the gardai that he offered the boy €50 for giving directions.
The man who has an address in County Kilkenny is charged with sexually exploiting the boy at a hotel room in West Dublin on October 20, 2016, contrary to Section 3 of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act, 1998.
A Solicitor for the DPP told Judge McHugh that the book of evidence was ready to be served. She said the DPP had consented for the man to be sent forward to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
Judge McHugh sent the man forward on bail to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
