Man dies following alleged stabbing incident in Tallaght

GARDAI in Tallaght continue to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his 40s following an alleged stabbing incident in Tallaght yesterday evening. 

An adult male arrested at the scene remains in custody as the victim is named locally as Ionel Nicolae Diaconu. 

According to a Garda statement issued, gardai and emergency services were alerted shortly before 9pm to an incident at a residence in the Castle Park area of Tallaght.

A male in his 40s was treated by Emergency Services personnel but was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

His body remains at the scene which is preserved pending forensic and technical examination.

An adult male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Dublin Region.
