AFTER a long campaign, St Mark’s Under 13 footballers clinched the Division Four League title with a game to spare following a 3-13 to 5-4 win against Man O War in McGee Park on Saturday.

The Tallaght side raced ahead into a 10-point lead after just 15 minutes, Callum Byrne, Kieron Dare, and Kasem Smith all finding the back of the net, although Man O War did manage to reduced their arrears to just four.

Still Mark’s extended their lead to seven by the halftime recess, but in the second half Man O War picked up the momentum again and fought back to make it a two–point game.

Yet the Tallaght side maintained their poise and held on to win by three points.

“At the end of the game, Man O War showed great sportsmanship and performed a guard of honour for the league winners. That’s what GAA is all about” said Erika McLoughlin of St Mark’s.
