Mary Queen of Angels 1969 Confirmation class
THE class of a 1969 Confirmation class in Mary Queen of Angels, Ballyfermot, met up for a special 50th year reunion this week in the Mullingar House Bar in Chapelizod.
It is not the first time the former primary school class have met up for a chinwag and reminisce of times past, having done so in 1994 and 2004.

“The numbers have dwindled over the years,” said Martin Nesbitt, a former Mary Queen of Angels pupil and chief organiser of reunions over the years.
Mr Nesbitt, who lives in St John’s Avenue, Clondalkin, said: “The last time we met in 2004 for the 34th year anniversary, there was about 28/29 people out of 48 in the class at the reunion.
“Unfortunately, over the last 50 years our numbers are decreasing. Since our last reunion, six of our class members have passed away and since 1969, we know of 14 who have passed away. We all enjoyed the night that was in it and made our vows to keep in touch with the powers of social media.”

The first reunion essentially started out as a chance meeting over a few pints – expanding into a bigger scale event.
Mr Nesbitt said the recent reunion featured “mostly local lads”, but also “two from Canada and one from Australia”.
