BLUEBELL United stormed their way to this season’s Leinster Senior League crown in May.

Andy Noonan’s side ensured a third LSL crown in four seasons following their 3-0 win over Portmarnock, combined with Crumlin United’s scoreless draw against Newbridge last month.

It is a remarkable achievement for the club which, up until 2015, had not won the title in 28 years.

Indeed, manager Andy Noonan led them to a couple of runners-up finishes before breaking their duck.

“I can’t remember when the league was won so early in the season and it’s down to the players and their families and all that they’ve sacrificed to get us over the line,” insisted Noonan.

“It’s such a hard league to win. There are just so many strong teams in it.

“This was special especially after we sadly lost Christy Beahan [long-time club stalwart] earlier.

“But after missing out on the title by just one goal last season the lads came back hungry and were raring to go again.

“This year we lost three players to ACL injuries and we lost Dean Ebbe to TNS in Wales, so to win it without those players just shows you the strength of the squad,” he added.
