May Sports Star of the Month: Nicole Bannon
TALLAGHT Martial Arts Nicole Bannon was top of her game at the Turkish Open 2023 in Istanbul last month which had over 3,700 entries from 40 countries.
Nicole was in flying form when she overcame Funda Gulec from Turkey in the first round of competition before beating Andrea Busa from Hungary in the next round.
The Tallaght girl went on to overcome the challenge of Urska Gazvoda from Slovenia in the final in what was a superb four-day competition.
“I was delighted with the result at the Turkish Open,” Nicole said.
“I was first in my points division and bronze in my light contact division.
“The following weekend I was away in Milan in the Points Fighter Cup and I got a third.
“I’m currently training for the Olympic European Games and I’m feeling ready for that. I can’t wait for that competition,” added Nicole.
