McDonagh set for a move into the professional field
DYLAN McDonagh will be making his long-awaited professional boxing debut when he takes on Bulgaria’s Georgi Andonov in the Celtic Clash 3 bill in the National Stadium on September 9.
The 32-year-old Jobs-town bantamweight, who has a background in MMA, has made the transition to boxing and has been in intense training under the watchful eye of coach Frank Stacey.

“His preparation for this fight has been great and I think he will really suit the pro game,” said Stacey. “He’s super-fit and is well able for the longer rounds. I really think he’s going to do well.
“He’s had some great sparring with Paul Butler [former IBF World Bantamweight champion] and he’s been in with Eric Donovan and Regan Buckley,” he added.
His opponent Andonov has fought seven times, winning just three, including his most recent outing against compatriot Bogomil Metodiev in Sofia last month.
One of his four defeats came at the hands of another Tallaght man Carl McDonald, who is due to face Regan Buckley on the Celtic Clash 3 card also.
McDonagh has also come up against McDonald, losing to his fellow Tallaght man in the semi-finals of the Intermediate Championships.
