McLoughlin leads way for Chrónáin

A STANDOUT performance by Liam McLoughlin saw him score 2-6 and help Scoil Chrónáin to a 3-10 to 5-4 draw with Scoil Chainnigh in the Sciath Chlanna Gael in Croke Park on Tuesday.

A game that was tit-for-tat throughout seemed to fall in Scoil Chainnigh’s favour when they kicked a point with moments left in the game, only for Daíre Ó Conlúin to fire over a massive point afterwards.

Scoil Chronain shared the Sciath Chlanna Gael with Scoil Chainnigh

The Rathcoole side came flying out of the traps and shot into an early lead after midfielder Gearóid Ó Scanláin met a high ball with his fist to score a goal.

Liam McLoughlin was on fire in the game as he kicked a brace of frees and a sideline before doubling his sides goal tally.

Picking the ball up in midfield, the St Marks player went on a meandering run towards goal pulling off a number of dummy solos before picking out the top corner to push his school ahead.

However, their Finglas opponents slotted a couple of goals beyond Scoil Chrónáin goalkeeper Dillion O’Bróin despite his best efforts.

By the interval Chrónáin had obtained a 2-5 to 2-2 lead and wing-back turned wing-forward Seamus DeGrás fired over twice early in the second half.

Captain McLoughlin kept chipping in with points and ended the game with a tally of 2-6 after his long-range free snuck under the crossbar to make it 19 points to 18 in favour of Scoil Chainnigh.

The spoils where shared after centre-back Ó Conlúin went charging up the field and kicked massive point from 35 yards in the dying moments of the game infront of the Cusack Stand to help secure a share of the spoils
