Metcalfe and McDonald have their points to prove
CRUMLIN Super Featherweight Aiden Metcalfe and Tallaght’s Carl McDonald both have points to prove when they line out on this Saturday’s 'Celtic Clash 6' card at Good Counsel GAA Club in Drimnagh.
The latter will face off against Cork’s Colin O’Donovan for the vacant BUI Celtic Super Bantamweight title in the hope of making it four wins from six professional bouts.

The Team TNT boxer is still looking to make amends for his below-par display against Regan Buckley in their clash back in September and Head Coach Eddie Hyland feels he can deliver it.
“He [McDonald] is totally focused on what he has to do to win that title and he’s been doing really well in training.
“He’s doing eight to 10 rounds, sparring against heavier guys and hurting them, so he’s hitting hard,” he added.
Metcalfe meanwhile returns to the ring for the first time in almost ten months when he lines out on this Saturday’s ‘Celtic Clash 6’ card.
His debut in the National Stadium last September saw an injured Metcalfe just about make it past Poland’s Damian Lawniczak in a thrilling fight where he needed a strong finish to secure a one-point win.
Looking back on that contest, Metcalfe recalled “I hurt my nose in training camp for that fight.
“I could barely breathe in there, and the following morning I was in the hospital. That wasn’t me in there, I’m a good boxer, but that was more of a wrestling match, a slug-fest. It wasn’t me.

“I can fight – but I’d rather hit and not get hit! I was disappointed with my debut, people didn’t get to see how good I really am.”
“I got surgery to fix the problem with my nose, fix my breathing.
“It was frustrating being out for so long but I needed to get it sorted once and for all so I can properly get started with my career.
“It’s better now, I can feel it when I’m in sparring. I can control my breathing. You can see the difference when I’m in the ring, I’m much more composed.”
Also on the bill is another of the TNT boxers, Graham McCormack who is looking to make it three straight wins in his budding pro career.
